Online Job Hunt

So many areas of life have moved online, including finding work. Step 1 will give you the skills and confidence to use online tools such as Zoom, LinkedIn and Indeed to support you in each step. From finding a role that suits you, applying for work online, interviewing over Zoom and building a career. Everyone is welcome to join in. You don’t need any previous experience. We will bring you on a step-by-step journey.

Learning to Learn

Are you uncertain about your ability to participate in a course? Has it been a long time since you studied? Step 2 is for you. We will provide online workshops with a supportive tutor, follow-up individual and group mentoring to help you succeed. You will learn to understand and how to use your own Style of Learning. You will gain valuable tips on how to study effectively. This is ‘a taster’ of the full EQUAL Ireland, Essential Skills Certificate programme to help you decide on your future options for learning and employment.

Essential Skills

Have you ever thought of attending college? Step 3 will give you the skills necessary to achieve a qualification at a time, pace and place that supports you. Through EQUAL Ireland online workshops, supportive tutors and mentors you will have the opportunity to explore and develop your interest in business, social enterprise and community development. You will receive an award from Letterkenny Institute of Technology. You will have the opportunity to progress into Year 2 of a three-year degree programme.

Higher Certificate

On completion of the Essential Skills Certificate, you are eligible to enter Year 2 of a degree programme with EQUAL Ireland to gain a Higher Certificate in Business, Enterprise and Community Development from Athlone Institute of Technology. Workshops delivered online, with support from tutors and mentors, you will study campaigning and media skills, organisation and financial management, Ireland and EU governance and psychology in the workplace. This is a subsidised programme with a flexible payment system.

B.A. Degree

EQUAL Ireland’s one-year part time programme will earn you a B.A. Degree in Business, Enterprise and Community Development from Athlone Institute of Technology. You will study 5 modules and complete a final year project. You will have an opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills to solving real life problems in your business, workplace and your community. This is a subsidised programme with a flexible payment system.

Information

  • Step 1 Step 2 and Step 3, The Essential Skills Certificate are free to applicants. If you choose to complete all modules in Step 3 you will receive a Higher Education Certificate from Letterkenny Institute of Technology, equivalent to Year 1 of a Degree programme. Step 4 – you have the option to continue your education with EQUAL Ireland to earn a B.A. Degree in Business, Enterprise and Community Development from Athlone Institute of Technology.
  • Do you suffer from ‘Fear of Failure’? Many adults returning to education do, we have the time, over 20 years of experience, knowledge and temperament to ensure your success.
  • A Smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer will be required as we use Zoom for programme delivery. If you are nervous about technology just let us know.
  • You must be aged 23 or over.
  • Time commitment: Step 1 and Step 2 – Two on-line workshops each lasting 2 hours per week plus optional one-to-one support.
  • We do not believe in traditional examinations. You will get lots of support with your practical project work from well experienced tutors, mentors and your fellow students.
  • We have other adults, just like you, who returned to education available to support you achieve your goals.
  • We have experienced lecturers and speakers providing you with insights to boost your skills in finding work and building your career through further education.
